Symbol (Motorola) device cannot connect to wireless network

Your symbol mobile computers may encounter a difficulty when first connecting to wireless access points from other manufacturers. You may already have received an error when trying to set up a connection profile that states something similar to the following message: "The profile you are trying to connect to may not connect due to regulatory rules."

Most notably, if you have a Cisco or Linksys access point and a Symbol mobile computer, you are probably encountering this trouble. The good news is that the fix is easy. The bad news is that you have probably pulled your hair out trying to find the answer.
